Umrah Hair Cutting Rules

Umrah consist the 4 main Pillars (Arkans) these are Ihram, Tawaf (Circumambulation around the Kaaba), Sai (Walking back and forth between the two hills Safa and Marwa) and Halq (Shaving the head) or Taqsir (trimming the hair). However, Umrah Hair cut or Umrah Hair Shaving is the main act of Umrah Pilgrimage and the last ritual of Umrah. Here are some of the rules and guidelines of Cutting Hair in Umrah:
1. Umrah Hair cut after Sai
The ritual of cutting Hair or Shaving the Head in Umrah is performed after completing the third ritual of Umrah i.e. Sai (Walking seven times back and forth between two hills Safa and Marwa).
2. Halq (Shaving the Head)
Halq involves completely shaving the head, leaving it bald and it is only applicable for men. This act symbolizes humility, simplicity, and the shedding of one�s ego. It is considered a more comprehensive form of hair removal. Men who are already shaved or bald have to still run a razor on their heads.
3. Taqsir (trimming the Hair)
Taqsir involves trimming a small portion of a hair, men can perform Taqsir as an alternative to Halq and women can trim their hair about the length of a fingertip. It is a gentler form of hair cut while still fulfilling the ritual.
4. Halq or Taqsir Method
For performing Halq or Taqsir a male pilgrim should look for a Barber, which is easily available on the road side of Makkah while leaving the Masjid Al Haram. A pilgrim should face towards the Qibla and should start the Halq or Taqsir from the right side of the head.
5. Completion of Umrah Rituals
After performing the Halq or Taqsir, a pilgrim is no longer in the state of Ihram and after that is allowed to change into regular clothing. Pilgrims should ensure that Umrah Hair cutting is done with sincerity, reverence, hygiene and safety.

Umrah Hair Cut Women

There are some differences in rules of Umrah hair cut for women as compared to men. Here are some of the differences:
. It is not permissible for women to do Halq (Shaving the head).
. Women have to do Taqsir (Trimming a portion of Hair), usually about the length of a fingertip.
. Women have to cut their hair by herself or Mahram can cut her Hair.

Umrah Hair Colourn

If anyone had applied any hair colour except black before performing Umrah, It is important to note that this would not affect the validity of your Umrah. Applying Hair colour before Umrah does not impact the rituals or requirements of Umrah. Some of the Islamic scholars said it is forbidden to apply black colour dye. Our Prophet Mohammad (Peace be Upon Him) said �The best thing to use to change grey hair are Henna and Katam� (a plant leaves that produces a reddish black colour).
